Kuwahara Team Report
Kuwahara Team Report
Well what a busy time it has been for us with all the racing at the moment and the BMXV award night thrown in on top. The team riders have been working hard and training even harder week in week out and taking it to the next level.
Our interstate rider Adam Carey has been laid off for a while now due a nasty crash. Adam is slowly getting back into riding again, it is great to see him back on his bike and he will soon be back to full speed.
Our up and coming A men rider Taylor Davis has been cutting his teeth in a very stacked A men class where making a semi is hard enough let alone a final. At Lilydale’s open meet which was the start of the Pro Tour, Taylor pushed through his motos and placed 4th 2nd and 4th which put him into semis but that is where his day ended after getting involved in a nasty crash.
At the second round of the Pro Tour which was Geelong Taylor looked strong in practice but started a bit slow with a 7th then came out strong with a 2nd but went on to finish with an 8th. This unfortunately wasn’t enough to get him through to semi finals but it seemed like every moto was a final with tough competition.
I know with the third round of Pro Tour coming up at Park Orchards Taylor will be keen to ride their fast and flowing track and putdown some good times.
The busiest of our riders would have to be Liam Steele he has been all over racing and having some great results. Not only has Liam been riding up an age class (14 boys) he has also been riding voucher class at each open meet to earn some pocket money. At Lilydale Cup he had consistent results in both classes, loving his home track, finishing with firsts and seconds in his moto’s and finished top 2 in the finals.
Last year Liam competed in the Dynamite series, where the kids compete for the opportunity to represent Victoria in their age against the other states at the nationals. Liam took out first place in the series for 12 boys, he along with his fellow team Dynamite riders will look forward to some awesome competition at the national titles in April. The riders who won their age classes for the Dynamite series were presented their jerseys at the BMXV award night, where you get to rub shoulders with the likes of Bodie Turner.
The day after the BMXV award night was the 2nd round of the Pro Tour at Geelong where Liam again rode up in the 14 boys and also raced voucher class. Liam managed to take 2nd overall in 14 boys and was seen counting cash on the way out the gate so voucher must of gone ok as well.
With no rest for the wicked, Liam competed in the ACT State Titles, this year held at Tuggeranong. The crew did an amazing job of getting the track up to spec after all the rain. Sunday was 20 inch day and Liam had 29 riders in his class, he came out and placed 2nd, 2nd and 3rd with a 2nd in the semi. In the final, with an extremely tough field, he had to work hard in traffic, dodging fallen riders and managed to claim 5th, a result he was very pleased with.
Team Kuwahara will be back at it again at Park Orchards, stay posted for the boys results.

Lilydale Cup 2013
The new year of racing started off well, with the series of Track Attack, which consisted of two weekends of racing. I rode well during the two weeks, making semi-finals in every in race, and a Final at Knox ,in A pro where i finished 6th. I was happy with the result considering the tough competition of the A pro class.
Also during the time of Track Attack, BSX was on at King Lake, which happens once a year to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital. I made it through my qualifying lap, and qualified to race. I didn’t go any further than the first round, as i was beaten in a close finish.
The overall results from Track Attack were good as i finished 12th, as i had a couple of crashes during the first week that didn’t help my points. The next few months of racing will consist of the pro tour series around Victoria . I look forward to it and i will keep you posted.

Track Attack 2013 – LJ Steele
What a jam packed way to start out the year. Track attack is an event held over one week there are six race meets held over the week. The tracks were Frankston, Park orchards, Eastfield, Knox, Lilydale and South eastern. I rode up an age class in 14 boys and also rode the 11- 13 voucher class to really challenge myself. I did well in all of my races, even managing to jump in a pack of 14 boys all the way down the 2nd straight at Park Orchards. Park orchards was my favourite track to ride at. All the clubs did well to get there tracks up to spec, considering we have had no rain for so long. I am very pleased with my results over the series, placing 2nd in 14 boys and 4th in voucher. Thanks to Eastern Region for providing another awesome event, Kuwahara and ECI.
State Titles 2013 – LJ Steele
On the weekend it was one of the biggest events of the year for BMX in Victoria, The Victorian State Titles. The titles were held over two days. On the first day the sprockets, cruisers and dynamites raced. For the dynamites it was the final round. This round was the decider for who gets the number one. I had a great day all round and finished with one first and two seconds. In the final I followed Jayden Rice to take out second on the day, my results let me still hold on to my lead over the series and won the Dynamite series for 2012. On the day 2 of racing all ages for 20” came out to play. Racing was awesome all day, and really challenging. In my motos I finished first, second and fourth. This was a good score and got me through to the semi finals, it was a tough and even race, two of the boys crashed in the first corner. I railed around them and came out fourth in the second straight I had a very strong third straight and finished third. I was rapt, I made it to the final and got 6th pick. In the final, it was an even race to the first turn Jayden came out in first followed by Tyson Cobby, then the pack fought it out for the rest of the race. In the second berm I pushed Jed Seidpolt up and blocked his path taking his position of 6th and that’s where I stayed for the rest of the race. I am 6V. My weekend was great, my hard work is paying off, I am now beating kids I never have before, and feeling more confident every time I ride. The Knox club made the day a huge success, the track was great. Thanks to Kuwahara and ECI for supporting me throughout the year, cannot wait to see what challenges I meet in the new year.
